HUGE News from Batty’s Bath

If you’re a regular following of the blog, you may remember my new year’s resolutions.  If not, here they are if you’re interested.  In keeping with those, I’ve made a plan that includes a lot of changes in the way I work – which of course will trickle down into noticeable changes for all of you! The subscribers of the mailing list are in “the know” about the changes I mention in this post, and so are the facebook fans. Now it’s your turn – the blog readers – turn to know what’s up! Have a read and let me know what you think by commenting on this post. I’ve received a lot of feedback and I appreciate hearing from each and every one of you!  I also want you to know that the changes listed below aren’t the only big changes that I’ll share that are in line with my resolutions.  To be “in the know” the fastest, join the mailing list, otherwise stay tuned! This year is going to be a great year!

Now, on with the news…….

I’m cutting down my product line considerably!

This means that I’ll only be making some of the products in my line. The others will be discontinued. The products I will continue to make are the ones listed at the bottom of this newsletter under “Keeping” – scroll down to see the list. The ones being discontinued are listed under “Going”.  And ones that I will make seasonally, or occasionally, are listed under “Occasionally”.

So why am I cutting down my product line?
There’s several reasons. Since I like to try to keep my newsletters short, I’ll list a few of the reasons below.  If you want to hear my long-winded journey to making this decision, feel free to check out the blog. I’m sure I’ll mention this at least a few times over the next few weeks on the blog.

  • There are too many products for me to keep up with
  • I haven’t been able to keep my retailers well stocked
  • I’m stressed out to the point that every area of my life is suffering
  • If I continue to be stressed, I risk burn out and if that happens, Batty’s Bath will close up shop
  • I don’t want the quality of my products to suffer (ever!)
  • I want to be able to get orders out as fast as possible
  • I will be able to make seasonal/special release items if I’m not always playing catch up

How this change will happen….

This change can’t happen over night, which is a good thing if one of the items you love is on the “Going” list (at the bottom of this email).

  • What I’ll be doing over the next little while is making products on the “Going” list that I still have ingredients for (and don’t use those ingredients for any other formulas).  This will be my focus for the next little while. If there are products on the “Going” list that you want to get your hands on, make sure you visit ShopBattysBath.com often!
  • After I’m finished with the “Going” products phase, I’ll move on to stocking up the “Keeping” products. This will be really fun because I’ll be securing the main product line and will be able to get creative with seasonal and limited edition releases!

A Brand New Look

New Logo

This is the new logo for Batty’s Bath!  It was designed by Pilgrim of Draw! Pilgrim. She also designed the new Batty mascot (below). Soon you’ll start to see the logo and mascot popping up all over the place. What do you think? Let me know on the facebook fan page!

New Mascot!

Although we all loved the “old batty”, it was time for something new and fresh!  Since the batty mascot is supposed to represent me – or at least my alter ego – I knew she needed an update. Pilgrim did a great job capturing my super bubbly retro inspired vibes!

Staff Picks: Jena’s “Can’t Live Without” Product!

Patchouli Facial Moisturizer

This is my personal “can’t live without” product from the Batty line. I use this cream every night after I cleanse my face. It is my own personal magic cream. It keeps my break outs at bay. It brightens my skin. It moisturizes my skin like no other cream I have ever tried. I absolutely can not live with out this cream! The smell is a bit strong when you first start using it, but once you start seeing some results, it’s funny how the smell suddenly does not bother you anymore ;) I only use this cream at night, and due to its strong odor, I can not wear it at work, but that’s OK because I use another Batty product for the daytime! I highly recommend this cream for all ages, and all skin types. It really has changed the skin on my face for the better. As soon as you apply it, you can instantly feel your face absorb it, and it lasts a very long time. If you are not using this cream, you definitely need to try it. Your skin will thank you! (ps – can I get a big thumbs up from those of you that already use it and know how amazing it is?? Woot woot!).

Happy Bubbles!

I made over 100 bath bombs and the wonderful Jena, shrink wrapped them all to get them ready for the market! :)   She even posted a picture over at the fan page so check that out if you’re interested!  Chow for now!

Behind the Scenes: Sunday in the Studio

20120311-221634.jpg

Yesterday Drew and Daddy Batty put up new lights in the studio!  The picture above is before they started working – I covered all the tables with a variety of table cloths to protect everything. You may remember how dark it was in the studio at night from this video. That’s definitely not the case now!  It’s so bright in there that it makes every other room in the house seem dark! lol. It’s a great improvement from what was lighting the studio before and makes for a great work environment! AND, the new lights are more energy efficient that the ones that were in there before! So it’s a step forward in all directions! I’m a lucky girl to have a husband whose JOB is to help people convert old energy sucking lightly and electrical components to the high efficient versions! I’ll be sure to show you the new lights in future posts. Below is a picture after the lights were put up – I wasted no time getting right to work!  On the list of things to make last night was primer. Pictured below is the clays that are part of my primer formula! I’m prepping the clays to add them to the butters that are being whipped by one of my kitchen aide mixers behind me. When I saw how the clays fell into a neat looking composition I just had to share :)

4 Amazing Things That Happened This Week (My Week So Far: It’s a Batty Life)

Happy Batty! This week has been absolutely AMAZING! There has been so many great things happening – enough for a whole month worth of amazing things! And since they have all happened in the same week I’m smiling from ear to ear and ready to bounce off the walls! lol!

Amazing thing #1:

Batty’s Bath was approved by the Leaping Bunny Program!

I filled out the paper work, answered the emails, and basically spent a lot of time proving that Batty’s Bath does not use animal testing on any of our products or ingredients, and neither does any of our ingredient suppliers! There’s no cruelty from start (growing & acquiring ingredients) to finish (final product testing and batch testing)! We will be included as a safe, cruelty free company in the Leaping Bunny’s directly and publications on their next big update!

Amazing thing #2:

I spoke with the biggest inspiration and my business role model, Donna Maria!

I devote time to my personal growth and well as developing my leadership and business skills. I find it helps me stay grounded, fills my craving for learning, and helps me improve my business. Donna Maria is a huge part of that process! I’m in her Protégé program and have been inspired by her since the very start! On Wednesday, during a conference call, I got the chance to speak with her directly and ask her some of my “burning questions” about my business! She was WONDERFUL! She asked questions, gave direction, and otherwise wiped away the fog and made things clear!  I was so excited after the call I literally did a little jig! haha!  and no, I didn’t capture it on video, but if i had it would have looked something like this:

The Carlton Dance

Amazing thing #3:

Becoming a member of the non-profit, EcoLIVING London!

Amazing things are happening in my local community when it comes to green living! EcoLIVING London is a non-profit organization that brings together people who want to have a positive impact on their personal health, the health of their family and the health of the planet. Basically, they are my kind of people – they get me and I get them!  I couldn’t be happier to be a part of this amazing community! I’ve wanted to join them for a long time and now that I have the chance I’m diving in head first!  I talked with Tiffany today about all the opportunities they have for me and I’m ecstatic! Over the next few months you’ll start to see blog posts by me on their website, Batty’s Bath will be listed in the directory, we’ll be ‘representing‘ (yo!) at many of their events,  AND there’s something VERY cool coming out in April – when I say very cool, I mean you’ll want to stay tuned because even if you’re not a tree hugging granola like me, you’ll still think it’s pretty dang cool!!! :)

EcoLiving London

Amazing thing #4:

Less Pain!

This week I started on several new prescriptions (on top of the handful I’m already on), and I feel great! Starting on new medications is always a bit scary – and some times very disappointing! I’ve been dealing with my illnesses for over 10 years, and it has taken this long to get on a regime that has made me feel human again! Or at least feel like what I’m assuming pain-free, illness-free, people feel like! It’s amazing, and totally encouraging to be able to get up every MORNING (yup, morning! I’ve reached one of my resolutions!), and dive right into work – and enjoy it because I’m not having to drag by body around the studio or try to force my eyes to stay open to answer just one more emailLife is good! Every day this week I’ve been able to get up before Drew goes to work and be a busy bee until he comes from work – and still have energy to make supper and spend some time with him and the doggies! I’m not used to being able to do so much in a dayThis is what life is supposed to be like!  It might seem like a boring life to some, work – supper – quiet time – sleep – repeat, but to me it’s complete bliss!  With what feels like a brand new body, a job I love, and our “new to us” century+ old home, I’m really seeing myself loving every day and maybe even getting a bit domestic!  GASP!!  I’m already cooking supper – something that’s unheard of… the joke around here is that I can cook a mean batch of soap but can’t cook FOOD to save my life lol. I’m turning a new (brighter shade of green) leaf!

Rainbow Leaf Trail

How has your week been?

I hope you’re starting to see wonderful things in your life too!  If not, keep plugging away! All these amazing things in my life this week didn’t happen overnight and amazing things like this certainly don’t happen all the time BUT that’s why we keep working away and finding ways to enjoy the simple things in life, and take comfort in the silver linings and the occasional rainbows.

Pastel Perfect!

I've been drooling over Katwise's elf coats for years now but could never afford one - although it would be worth every penny because of the tremendous amount of work that goes into them. BUT, there is hope for me to have one of her coats because she now offers the patterns for sale! Hooray!! Do you think I could talk Momma Batty to make me one? lol! My dream one is this one pictured .. look at all those pretty pastels! I've also seen a drool worth one in autumn colors... mmmm!
